Can't launch program

PostTue May 18, 2021 4:26 pm

Hi there! I am new to Davinci Resolve. I have installed Resolve 17 (the free version) but can't launch the program. I get a message that says:

The procedure entry point
clGetExtensionFunctionAddressForPlatform could not be
located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\Blackmagic
Design\Davinci Resolve\gpudetect.dill.

Do I have to have an earlier version of Resolve already on my computer to update from?
Anyone who could help, I would appreciate it very much!

You're not on Windows 7 by any chance, are you? Resolve 16 and 17 only support Win10.

Apart from that, please go through the troubleshooting FAQ, particularly the parts about listing your hardware and supplying logs and NFO files:

Resolve Studio 17.4.6 - Fusion Studio 17.2.2 - Windows 10
Gigabyte GTX1080ti 11GB - AMD 1950X - 64GB 2400
Gigabyte X399 AORUS Gaming 7
Intensity Pro 4k
Presonus 192 Audio Interface
Separate M.2 SSDs for OS and Resolve Cache

Thanks Mike and Charles. Yes I am running on Windows 10, but I think, as you both suggested, that my computer is not meeting the recommended specs for Resolve. Doh! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys.
