Get the MB Air M1 and enjoy it now. I doubt it makes any sense on an iPad Pro. The external USB-C/Thunderbolt connection is much slower and you can't choose an appropriate resolution for an external screen (only mirroring).

Note that Microsoft Word, Adobe Premiere, Apple FCPX, Avid, Pro Tools, and many other programs also don't work on an iPad. I think you have to get the right platform (and OS) for the right software. As it is, it's challenging just to run Resolve on a powerful laptop.
