Are AI subtitles supposed to translate?

This is a weird one: I accidentally set my language to Dutch for generated subtitles instead of English and the created subtitles were translated. So it's not that that the LLM found words that sounded similar, but it actively translated the words from English to Dutch. Is that supposed to happen?
