Offline Audio on Cloud Project.

PostWed Feb 05, 2025 3:13 pm

Hey there everyone, I'm a newbie user of DVR (just came in from years in APP) and so far I've been loving it.
This week for the first time I decided to do use BM Cloud on a project to colaborate with another editor and a colorist. It's been running great, although a bit slow and choppy for me - especially when there is more than one user logged at the same time, which is not the usual case so fair enough.

My issue is: whenever one of the 3 of us logs in the project all the "extra files" (audio, jpgs etc...) are offline, except for the one user who logged (and linked) the last time. It seems to understand the Video files ok but not the other ones . We all have the originals and proxy files locally and the sync option is set to "don't sync files". We tried putting these extra files locally on the folder that it creates on the hard drive but it doesn't work.

Does anyone have a solution or knows what is going on?
(I hope I made myself clear).

Thanks a lot for any insights.

Check your path mapping locally is correct.

Say pc1 has jpegs here
/Volume_A/projects/Project_A/Media/Artwork/Supplied/

and you editor just dumped them here

/RandomExternalDrive/afolder/

If he relinks and has auto path mapping ticked then the path mapping in prefs would be like this

/RandomExternalDrive/afolder/ = /Volume_A/projects/Project_A/Media/Artwork/Supplied/

You can however run into issues if you then try to relink another folder higher up the path.

I find if the folder structure how you organise files should be the same. so path maps are simple ie

/MylocalVolumes/Project = /EditorsExternalSamsung/Project

You don't need Path Mapping when using Blackmagic Cloud Storage. Using it will probably cause problems. The Path Mapping is only required when using a 3rd party storage sync service, like Dropbox etc.
