Edit Page Audio Crackling Noise

using DaVinci Resolve 18.6.4 Build 6 about to wrap up a Project when suddenly in the Edit Page a hideous audio crackling noise has been introduced, is this a known issue (bug)?

is there a workaround for this?

audio sounds fine in Cut Page

macOS sonoma 14.2.1, mbp M2, media on external drives

auditioning the timeline project in the Edit Page.
we are just doing an audition Quality Control (viewing/listening) of the project

- the crackling is so pronounce from the Edit Page it is unlistenable,
- we want to audition in Edit Page to run it through SMTPE Standards use the Safe Zones overlays, audio meters etc, unless im mistaken this is not an option using the Cut Page, (Safe Zones should be available in the Cut Page but they are not, who edits/roughcuts without industry standards Safe Zones, Title/Action?!?!)

no.
it sounds amazing in Fairlight.
this only is happening in the Edit Page

System Audio

the timeline Delivers (exports) fine, no crackling

started from beginning,

- moved the media 4 minutes of .NEV Nikon N-RAW 8.2K to a mbp16" XDR display, Apple M2 Max, 96GB Memory, 4TB, 38 Cores
- media was on external SSDs
- created a new project
- playback deselected High Quality & Morion Blur

crackling is gone from the Edit Page

not sure what is/was causing the crackling on the Edit Page when this editing system is in its original configuration.

found the safe zones in the Cut page upper left of Viewer
