Why isn't there a Mini-Terenex Optical to SDI/SDI to Optical

You do have a Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G for this conversion, but I cannot underemphasize how helpful it would be to have the Mini-Teranex form factor with the display option and rack-mount ability in a fiber to SDI and SDI to fiber converter. You have HDMI to optical (and vice versa), but not 12g SDI. I just don't get it.

Throw Audio inputs and outputs into this device, where you take SDI and audio and convert to fiber and fiber out to SDI and audio, and you'd really have a worthwhile product on your hands, IMHO. But even without the audio, it would be quite useful to be able to put three of these in a rack with the tiny confidence monitors and audio meters built into them, sitting in that fiber closet.

Trouble-shooting an issue is walk in and look at the monitor. It would be so helpful. It frankly astounds me that you make HDMI versions and not SDI for this.

also...Include genlock on the optical to SDI and its a game-changer.

I mean, take your Audio to SDI and SDI to Audio Mini-Teranex and add Optical ins and outs alongside the SDI, then allow turning off the embedding disembedding via the front panel/dipswitches/and-or ethernet and it's an amazing multipurpose device that could be used for fiber conversion. It would be fiber to sdi or sdi to fiber, fiber to audio or audio to fiber, and fiber to sdi & sdi to fiber, all in one box with very little changes on your actual product - basically just finding space for the fiber module. Get rid of either the RCAs or optical SPDIF for the room.

Yes ! This would be a very useful unit.

There once was.. But it is discontinued probably as nobody realised it was there due to the naming.. And it did not really sell.. Because the Optical line back when they came out where $700 a piece while the non optical version was around 500..

Teranex Mini Audio to Optical and the Optical to Audio did exact this.

The audio embedding did ONLY work with a SDI signal in between.. As it used the SDI as a medium to transport the Audio channels.

Where did you find the picture of the backpanel ? The reason I ask is because it soesn’t correspond to what is depicted in the manual. If you look in the Teranex Mini converters manual, the Teranex Mini Audio to Optical 12G converter has an SDI 12G Input, not an output !

Is there an error in the manual or in your picture ?
