Amazing test results happening here!

Apple informed me that the iPhone 15 pro has 32 bit float onboard. Now this was a simple chat from an apple rep. But they seemed very confident it can capture 32 bit float audio.

I can’t seem to find any apps that support this. Anyone know of anything? Also, where can we find a spec sheet detailing a 32 bit float ADC in the iPhone 15 pro?

Well, BM’s app supports it on the Pro Max.

It works. There are thwo cases, that I have tested:

Shure MV88+ M-S Microphone
Maximum delivery is 24-bit 48kHz Stereo. If connected as normal, only 16-bit 48 kHz stereo is stored in the ProRES file (Apple Camera, Cinema P3 or Blackmagic Camera). If Blackmagic Camera is set to 32-bit Float, the audio channels are converted from 24-bit LPCM to 32-bit Float. Verified and working. Even when the microphone - incapable of delivering 32-bit Float - has been locked in the interface.

Zoom F3 connected as 32-bit Float audio interface
Requires Blackmagic Camera Pro set to 32-bit Float. You gain all the benefits of the 32-bit Float interface, as well as access to 48V Phantom power and either +4dBu or + 24 dBu maximum input level on the XLR connectors. The interface can be powered by USB-C from a power bank or internal batteries.

I have not tried h265, since Blackmagic Camera only delivers "near criminal low bitrates" with that option.

Thanks everyone! I suppose I was more hoping that Apple’s USB-C to 3.5mm adapter was a pass-thru adapter leading straight to true 32-bit ADCs built into the phone. Still no evidence that is true.
