Modify With has no available options - all Greyed-Out

PostSat Feb 17, 2024 8:40 pm

Hi,

When I try to add a modifier to a property of a transform node, where I want to use the Perturb modifier, I can not select any option, because they are all greyed out.

I can't find the reason why this is happening, and Davinci Resolve doesn't give any hints :?
A search on the internet gives no answer either :(

Anybody here know why ?
Thanks,

That's most likely because you already have a modifier on that control. You can tell by the highlighted word Modifiers (and the fact that it says 'remove path3') You already have a path driving the center.

Thanks, Sander,

I had a keyframe set in the pivot field (the field I wanted to modify) that prevented it...

Thank you for pointing me in the correct direction ;)

Paul.

I am confused by this. I am learning fusion by going through the manual. Yes, it has been my understanding so far that once a property like Center is modified with a path, that you can no longer add further modifiers to it.

Yet, on page 1441 of the manual, it seems to be saying (in a section called "combining modifiers with keyframes" that you can indeed add a perturb modifier to a parameter with a motion path.

This online tutorial also says the same thing:

https://jayaretv.com/fusion/davinci-res ... modifiers/

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the method they are suggesting?

You can apply your first modifier to say center position of a transform tool. Modify with... petrub for example. Than you can add more modifiers to it by using insert menu, and apply differnt set of modifiers. Even second petrub.

Or you can go to modifier tab and right click and add modifier on one of the parameters for "petrub modifier". For example you could right click on the "value" and add path. Which will have its own set of parameters in the modifier tab, and can be further stacked and modified, published, connected to, change with expressions or removed.

VonkUltra nodes takes the process and puts it into modifers that live as nodes in the flow. Which opens up a whole new set of things you can do.

Vonk Ultra is a collection of data nodes for Blackmagic Design Resolve/Fusion. Vonk can be thought of as node-based modifiers that live in the flow. These node-based operations provide a no-code alternative to using expressions or custom scripts. Data nodes are tools that allow you to interconnect nodes together by supporting more data types for the input and output connections such as numbers, text, spreadsheets, CSV, JSON, XML, metadata, arrays, matrices, and more.
