Blackmagic Camera app iPhone 15 Pro

PostWed May 15, 2024 5:54 pm

I'm having trouble setting up the app to shoot Apple Log. The Apple Log-Rec 709 viewing LUT gives a ghastly over-saturated pinkish image and the zebras do not function at all if set to over 80%. False colours seem to be incorrect too. I have to massively over-expose for any part of the image to turn white. If I use the histogram and expose to the highlight clipping point, I get a viewing image that is incredibly dark (presumably because the highlights clip at 80% and the viewing LUT isn't very good. Can anyone help me sort this all out, please?

Hi David,

In the LUTS section in Settings, there is an option to specify the Color Space Tag - could you try setting this to Rec.709 (to match the output of the LUT)?

Regards,
Vivek

Hi Vivek, that seems to have solved the problem! Could you please tell me what the zebra levels for light skin and highlight clipping should be set to now (filming in Apple Log, display LUT on and Rec 709 as the color space tag)? Thanks for your help!
