Where to send feature suggestions, product ideas and more?

PostSun Jun 09, 2024 8:15 pm

I have a small list of suggestions for Blackmagic, but couldn’t find anywhere specific in tbe forums here to submit them to so I’ll post them here. Please do let me know if there’s somewhere more specific.

So, firstly, a software feature that I’m sure many live streamers would appreciate: the simple ability to open multiple windows in tbe ATEM control app so I can see and access switcher, audio, camera and media settings far more easily.

SUGGESTION 2:
It would be so great if a device like the webcaster had a core feature like Speedify to create bonded or redundant connections for unbreakable internet for streams. I have to use a standalone mini PC for this currently.

SUGGESTION 3:
I would love to see a standalone or add-on physical audio mixer console for the various switchers to allow for proper connections from mics and other playback devices and physical buttons and controls for faders, EQ, compression etc. If this could also feature an internal memory funtion for audio files that was macro-addressable like a Hyperdeck for audio to allow the storage and playback of just audio files from a media pool, this would make streaming life SO much easier for one-man bands like me.

SUGGESTION 4:
Related to suggestion 3; a standalone device that functions just like a Hyperdeck but purely for audio playback. Macro-addressable.

SUGGESTION 5:
Powered lenses. Blackmagic is making such great camera bodies for all types of production, but powered lenses are still desperately lacking and leaving it to other manufacturers like Olympus and Panasonic to create powered lenses that are tailored to Blackmagic cameras is really missing a massive opportunity. BMD started creating cameras because the market was distinctly lacking in a great product, but the body is just half of the camera… the market is still desperately absent decent powered glass options for these bodies - especially for live production. I really wish BMD would expand their horizons into lenses for the perfect delivery.

SUGGESTION 6:
The other 50% of production is sound. BMD have delivered so many amazing products on the Video side of things, yet virtually nothing in terms of sound - not even a partnership with fellow Australian company, Rode, who have been making fantastic products for filmmakers for years. It would be a perfect marriage if the two of you would collaborate to create some tailored audio products for film and live work. I have several ideas there like my suggestion No. 3 & 4 and features they could have that even tbe Rodecaster models still don’t feature. Hit me up and I’d love to discuss them.

SUGGESTION 7:
Remotely controllable PTZ tripod heads. God, this would be a dream come true! With cameras like the OBSBOT out now, but lacking in camera control, many of us would dearly love to be able to mount our studio cameras on a pan and tilt head, have a decent powered lens (suggestion 5) on them and have control of them from an ATEM or separate control surface. This would truly take live work to the next level for many of us.

So, there you have it.. 7 strong suggestions and wishes born out of my real world experience. If just one made it, I’d be happy, but you never know, you might like them all.. I’d love to discuss any of them with you.
