Blackmagic Production 4K SDI Output - LOG? Yes or No.

PostThu Jul 11, 2024 5:02 pm

I hooked my Production 4k camera up to Feelworld monitor with the output settings set to film. The display settings are set to film. The output is SDI - HD. On the monitor the LUT is turned off. The question I have is, does the SDI port output with LOG settings or with a lut styled REC709 image?

Does it look flat and grey? Then the answer is yes.

No. It doesn't look log. It looks log on the camera monitor but not on the Feelworld monitor, but all the LUT settings on the monitor are off. So I am wondering, if it's actually log or just my eyes fooling me?

You can set for any output (HDMI/SDI) separately in the camera if a LUT is applied or not.

-> menu -> MONITOR -> HMDI -> Display 3D LUT on/off
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

The Blackmagic Production Camera 4K doesn't have 3D LUTs as far as I know. I will check the menu again when I get home.

To be honest I not remember, when I had it I use VA4k to monitor it be cause original display was unusable for monitoring and it had Lut, but in camera I not remember lut simulation.

Yeah it looks like a LUT is applied even on the output. I am going to see if I can undo the Rec709 Lut then put the look I want underneath.
