BiDirectional MicroConverter - RG58 or 59

PostFri Aug 02, 2024 1:38 pm

Hello!.

I have a question, I bought BiDirectional converters, and I have worked with SDI cable (BNC connector), but I had a problem, I need to run 3 long strips of cable of 150 meters (400 feet) and I have RG59 cable available, wouldn't it cause a problem in the BiDirectional?.

According to "rumors" some time ago some SDI-HDMI 3G converters were damaged without reason, and according to technicians it was due to the use of "coaxial" cable, what I don't know is if that cable was RG58 or 59.

I would really appreciate the help, Thanks! :D

All cable that terminates with a BNC connector is coaxial.

RG58 is typically 50 ohm made for wireless and radio applications.

RG59 is typically 75 ohm made for video, everything from composite thru 12G.

Even with the best cable 100m is about as far as you’re going to get with hdsdi.

150m is closer to 500 feet than it is to 400.

Good Luck
