ATEM Television Studio HD8 ISO (no iso for 1080i)

PostFri Apr 21, 2023 7:47 pm

We just purchased the ATEM Television Studio HD8 ISO and were setting up for a production this weekend. When testing the iso feature and the iso record all inputs check box was greyed out. It was selectable from the dropdown recording menu at the top of the computer interface but when we recorded we were only getting a program file with no ISOs. We are running Sony BRC-900 which are 1080i59.94 along with many other gfx feeds also in 1080i59.94. After some time we changed the switcher over to 1080p29.97 and we now can iso all camera but only in the progressive standards not in any interlace standards. Not having the option to iso camera in 1080i makes the switcher much less useful to us. Will this be address in an update or is there no plan to offer iso recordings in 1080i?

The ATEM use FRC in every SDI Input so i think the interlaced Camera Output don‘t match exactly the Atem setup frame rate. As i understand it records Camera ISOs only if they match exactly the internal setup frame rate. Maybe check the camera out what are really present on the SDI output.

Not sure that is the issue as when I continue to feed the cameras at 1080i59.94 but change the switcher to 1080p29.97 it will capture program along with ISO records. The cameras are continuing to feed a i59.94 signal into the switcher. The scalers don't do a great job of converting the 1080i to a 1080p so the motion looks choppy. We are not running it that way as the video motion in those recordings is seriously degraded.

Curious if you ever found the cause of this or a workaround.

We are experiencing the exact same dilemma, also with PTZs from the Sony BRC line.
