BM Camera app Timecode Support

PostWed Nov 08, 2023 3:34 am

Are there plans to support Diety's TC-1 as well as Tentacle Sync E?

Thanks

At this stage only Tentacle Sync E for external timecode sync, as per v1.1.

I vote for the TC-1 support as well if at all possible. Pretty please, Peter?

Love the BMD camera app - you folks are outstanding!

Second vote for Deity TC-1 Support. I use those, and on the recent feature I worked on the sound mixer also used them.

A third vote for the Deity's. Although the jury is out here for their customer support. It appears to be non-existent.

Yes Please for Deity TC1. I already have an Ultrasync Blue for Mavis Camera App synced to a Zoom F6. It would be great to have it on that. Deity is good as looking at their radio mics with TC built in, so that is the direction of travel. Maybe forced to get a Tentacle Sync E to link with the Camera App.

May end up having to have one of each to drive the complete system together. Be so nice to have just one unit/manufacturer.

Curious Peter, what's the issue with the Deity's? They work great on every other camera I've tried them on.

I would also love to get the Deity working on my P4k. It's...better than the Tentacle.

This is specific to the Camera App for the iPhone and Android. You can use Tentacle Sync to get timecode on the Phone Camera App, but not Deity.

The Deity does work on the P4K. I used a P4K last year with my Deity TC-1s and had no issue. I regularly use them with my UMPG2 and P6KPro without issue. And, I use them generally with Sound Devices audio recorders.

Bringing up the desire for Deity TC-1 Support with the App again because I just picked up the Deity PR-2 and it's awesome! Thus, I would love to use the PR-2 as my 32-Bit Float Audio Recorder with a Lav with the iPhone BMD Camera App. My plan is to upgrade my iPhone this year with the newly announced phones next month. Thus I'll likely use the Cam App more for recording video for social media content. Would be nice to be able to timecode sync with my PR-2 for that.

I love the BlackMagic Camera app as well but would also appreciate the addition of Deity for timecode embedded into the video. I am attempting to do a 3 Camera Iphone 16 Pro Max setup and need timecode or I will be pulling my hair out in post. If there is any news before this Friday 10/25/2024 that you are adding as an alternative timecode selection inside the software would be appreciated or else back to Amazon the PR-2s and TC-1s they will go.

My ultimate goal is imbedded timecode behind the video and 2 free channels of audio to be recorded by the main iphone mics or by a set of lark M2s or a boom mic. If I end up getting the tentacle can I use one and have the bluetooth connect with all 3 phones each using the BlackMagic Camera app or do I have to get a separate tentacle for each iphone?

Unfortunately, there’s no news here; I’ve been waiting for that feature for a long time. It would be great if they open-sourced the code and allowed the community to develop new features—it’s better than waiting for years.

I’m tentacle user (Track E and Sync E), which I got primarily because of the alleged abolity to sync with timecode on the BMC app on iPhone 16 Max at 23.98fps. I follow this forum and others regularly. It’s been one a year, and I’ve yet to ever have a stable fps recording of over 30 seconds on the app- which makes the timecode sync irrelevant, so it always has visible lip sync draft even though the Tentacle app “syncs” it. I realize this is not an issue with Tentacle. But when I read threads like this, I wonder. Do you all actually have a way to effectively use the Tentacle time code syncing capability of BMC app? Because it seems useless for any clip longer than 20-30 sec, as long as there iphone can’t hold a constant frame rate. Please enlighten me. I desperately want a solution
