I see from some older posts that other people have had trouble with their IR filter, but I thought I'd
post this anyway to see if there's any new information.
Has anyone else had trouble with their BMPCC4K having either what looks like dust or a tiny amount of fungus UNDER the IR filter lately? My camera is about 4 years old and it's a recent problem...
I've got some persistent spots showing up on sensor tests.
You can't really see the spots with the naked eye when looking at the sensor.
The spots haven't come off with the usual attempts at cleaning (air bulb, microfiber swab from M43 sensor cleaning kit), so I don't think it's dust ON the IR filter.
I've been in contact with BM who were the ones to suggest it might be dust or fungus under the IR filter. I saw on a post here that some people even think that the IR filter can start to corrode over time!! I've seen quite a few posts on reddit etc. about this too...
BM suggested replacing the IR filter, but it's quite costly considering it might happen again if they use the same materials.
If it is the corrosion problem, I'm trying to work out why this happened so that I can try to avoid any repetition. Has anyone else has a similar experience?
Thanks in advance.
