Project Backups won't activate in collaborative 19.0.3

PostThu Oct 31, 2024 12:42 pm

Hello,

I am working in Davinci Resolve Studio 19.0.3 and building Multi-user collaborative project.
Windows 10 OS.

I've noticed that when I go into my User settings to turn on Project Backups, the click box wont stay clicked.

I have the option to activate the backups, and even "save" that setting, but then if I close out of the preferences box and then go back into the preferences box, the checkbox is unchecked again.

I've tried restarting Resolve, restarting the computer, but no luck. Any thoughts anyone?

I believe this option is not available for Cloud Libraries.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Project backups are not available in collaborative projects.

That's the primary reason timeline backups was introduced, which does work with collaborative projects.

Add my name to the "guess how I found out about this" club. I realize there may be many technical or operational reasons why project backups don't work for collaborative projects, but there should be a notice when you switch a project from Single User to Multi-User. We just lost 2 weeks of work because one of the editors deleted 95% of the timelines in the project because they thought they were working from a local version and not the network version. Enter my surprise when I found that the last backup of the project was the day we switched it to Multi-user in an attempt to streamline the number of project copies we had. We love so many things about Resolve, but this was a surprising blow.
