So I finally buy the Ursa 4,6K camera kit with for IRIX cine lenses. I bought the kit that was two months old with batteries, case, lenses, matte box, memory cables, and a lot of extras. I bought it in Miami after meeting some film makers. A friend hired me to film some large landscape jobs his company did. I had to leave my gear in his vehicle since I was riding a motor bike back home. He told me he was going out of town and he would keep my gear Locke in his vehicle in a secure building. I live in central Florida and hurricane Milton was heading to the west coast and going to cross the state on top of my location in Orlando. Three days after the storm passes and I get power back at the house I get a call from the landscaper who informed me that when he flew out to Colorado he had flown out of the Tampa airport and parked his car and one of his family members back yard. The family member lives on the bay and my friends car was washed away in the storm surge. He got the totaled truck pulled out of the water with every window broken and my water tight case gone somewhere in Tampa bay. His insurance won’t cover my contents and since the truck wasn’t parked in a structure their homeowners insurance won’t cover it either, I typically carry insurance on my gear but this was new to me and I hadn’t gotten to it yet. Now I’m out of pocket 8K and don’t have the resources to replace it. Just my luck!
