Hello everyone,
I’m a relatively new Blackmagic user and still learning the ropes. We are a tribute live band, touring across Europe, and we use Blackmagic products for our live concerts. I’d like to share our setup and ask for advice on a couple of issues we’ve been encountering.
Here’s our setup:
Additionally, I’m using 3 other mini cameras from different manufacturers directly on stage.
The issue we’re facing is that the Blackmagic camera at FOH produces a significantly darker image compared to the three lower-quality cameras on stage. The image is so dark that it’s almost unusable for live streaming to the LED wall. The gain on the Blackmagic camera is already set to +12. My question is: Is it possible to adjust the image afterward without affecting the images from the other cameras? Or does the Blackmagic camera require a faster lens to handle the lighting?
I’ve attached a screenshot of the MultiView for reference. Cam1 is the Blackmagic camera at the FOH position, and Cam 2–4 are the cameras on stage.
Additionally, we encountered another problem. I turned the camera on about 2 hours before the concert, and the concert lasted about 2.5 hours, so we’re talking about a continuous 4.5-hour run. Toward the end of the concert, I noticed in MultiView that the image from Cam1 started to "shift," almost like the sensor was "shaking" (though it wasn’t physically moving). The next day, the camera worked fine again. Could the 4.5 hours of continuous operation be an issue for the camera, or possibly the bass frequencies from the concert? Or is there another cause for this disturbance?
Looking forward to your insights!
Best regards from Germany,
Rene
