Bug: Paste Insert with In/Out adds a gap

PostSun Nov 17, 2024 4:07 pm

When using "Paste Insert", a gap is added to the pasted clipboard material.
It appears to be the length of the time difference between the In Point and the Playhead position.

I'm seeing something different.

If I Ctrl+Shift+V without an In point, I get the expected Paste Insert.

If I do that with an In point, I get just the Paste, no Insert. (And the In/Outs are removed.)

But no extra spaces.

Oh, I see.

That's because BMD changed the Paste behavior in 19.1. Now it ALWAYS Pastes at the Playhead, ignoring the In point completely. :o

Kind of annoying that they removed such useful functionality of Pasting at the In point just to accommodate noobs who don't know how to use the software, but...that's where we are now. :(

Yep, I can replicate this in 19.1 on my (Macbook) test system. The added space issue depends on the offset between in point and playhead ... if the playhead is after the In point then the additional space is inserted as well as the clipboard contents, and if the playhead is before the In point then no space is added, but the clip is overwritten instead of inserted... either way the behaviour is wrong.

This is still an issue, but I don't care because in 19.1.1 an option to prioritize In/Out was added which I am very grateful about.
