Remapping the "Focus" button on Pyxis

PostWed Dec 04, 2024 12:52 pm

I am trying to remap the "Focus" button on my PL mount Pyxis because for PL mount it's useless since PL lenses lack auto-focus. So it makes sense to have the button toggle "Focus Assist" on PL mount cameras.

I'm sure this is user error...

In the Menu/Settings/Setup "Set Function Button" page, I select "One Shot AF" set to toggle, I select "One Shot AF Parameter" to "Focus Assist" and I select/highlight "LCD" for "One Shot AF Parameter Displayed On"

I exit the menu and try to use the button (directly below the Iris button) to toggle Focus Assist and no go. I can manually choose focus assist from the LCD touch screen as a baseline for determining if focus assist is working with the "focus" toggle button.

What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks,
Cheers,
Corey

I do not own a Pyxis, so I just consulted the user manual.
Your procedure seems to be correct.

When you tested this - you did use the built-in LCD, right?

Because if you were using the external LCD you would have to set it the parameter to be displayed on to the EVF.

Just a wild guess by me:
As far as I remember the Focus Assist toggle per default is mapped to the F1 button.
Can you check this and if yes, un-map that? Maybe there is a bug preventing double-mapping.

Also try to map any other function to the One Shot AF button to see if any other is working. Maybe the whole remapping for that button got borked.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

I have the same problem on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G1. You simply can not use that button and assign a different function. I think it's a firmware bug.

How do we open a "bug/defect" for this?

I have the same problem with the BMCC 6K FF. I use manual lenses, and I have tried to remap that button to no effect.
