As of now, it seems BMD has created some wonderful platforms for all users to jump into their ecosystem.
$30k - $15k - Ursa Cine (12k & 17k) - high end productions
$6300 - $2000 (used) - URSA Mini 12k/G2 - Owner, Operator Freelancer (or some other title)
$3000 - Pyxis - pretty much anyone on YT getting this
$2500 - $800 (used) - Pocket Line - Novice up to Professional
The group that seems to need a refresh is the URSA Mini Line.
I feel like even if they just updated the media to CF Express, the UMP12k would have new life.
I've seen SO many UMP12k users jump to the Ursa Cine, and many Pocket users go to the Pyxis.
So, I feel like there is potential for users to want something in between the Ursa Cine and Pyxis/Pockets. The UMPG2 can be had for around $2000 used, which is just crazy. A used, non-OLPF 12k is around $3800.
As I'm currently in a lull, I have no immediate need for a new camera, simply using a caged/rigged 6kFF.
But when work picks back up in Q1 2025, I want to improve the image quality of my camera. The URSA Mini 12k OLPF seems like the option I'm going to go with, but MAN OH MAN, would one last URSA Mini Pro camera be exciting. As long as it isn't a 6kFF sensor in it, haha. Of all the body designs, I think the URSA Mini had some great ergonomics. I wonder if Pyxis owners realized how much they potentially spend on rigging up a Pyxis? With an ND solution, plus lens adapters, and a robust battery solution, and cages... you could have gotten a used UMPG2 and grabbed a 3rd party OLPF and (IMO) would have a better camera.
I would love to see one last URSA Mini Pro. Update the media, make sure it has an OLPF, give a ton of sensor window options, improve the main display to something viewable in daylight.
