Cloud Store / Windows Log In Broken

PostSun Feb 02, 2025 2:57 pm

Hello, I hope someone can help me.

After the latest Windows update and the Cloud Store 1.5 Update, the log-in credentials are broken.
I can not log in / Map Drive.

Yes, I'm using guest/guest.

The device is visible under "Network" but Window refuses connection.

I get two errors:

You Can’t Access This Shared Folder Because Your Organization’s Security Policies Block Unauthenticated Guest Access""

Or: "Error code 0x80070035 The network path was not found"

I have enabled SMB 1.0 and set the Workstaion Lanman external device group policy to acess external devices to un-secure. I have not edited the registry, mostly because I don't feel comfortable. (I should not need to IMHO)

Why cant BlackMagic not just add proper log in credentials to the Cloud Store so this security stuff becomes a non issue. It would also make controlling acess easier too.

Greatful for any help / suggestions.

Best, Nick

After testing with the latest WIN 11 update (24H2 & KB5050094), we were unable to reproduce the issues that mention. Please check that the following workaround is still relevant:

1. Launch Group Policy Editor
2. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network > Workstation
3. Enable the 'Enable insecure guest logons' (edited)

- In any event, just creating a new user on the Cloud Store such as username:guest1, password :guest1 will circumvent the issue.
- There is no requirement to do any configuration in the Windows Registry. Nor is there any requirement to configure SMB 1.0.
- Yes, SMB signing is coming soon. Using the above workaround won't be necessary when that update ships.
(edited)

If you need further help, please reach out to the support office in your country so we can get some more details from you.

Hello,

For clarity and posterity, Windows 11 requires all SMB devices on a network to support SMB Signing. This is a security feature. Currently, Cloud Store products do not support this but they will soon. In the meantime, you can configure Windows 11 to not enforce SMB Signing when logging into a Cloud Store using the "guest" account, otherwise known as an anonymous login.

Configure Windows 11 to not enforce SMB Signing for guest logins to Blackmagic Cloud Store:
1. Launch Group Policy Editor. Press the 'Windows' key and type "Group Policy Editor".
2. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network > Workstation
3. Set the 'Enable insecure guest logons' option to ENABLE.

We tested the "latest" Windows 11 update, 24H2 and KB5050094 with Cloud Store 1.5. Access to a Cloud Store appeared to not become broken or prevented if the above configuration had been previously set. However, if you still have issues accessing your Cloud Store, please contact the experts in technical support who will be glad to provide you more thorough assistance.

Under Windows 10, the login (cloud dock 2 (SW 1.5) also behaves incorrectly.
After the “Group Policy Editor” procedure, you can log in without any problems.

Finally resolved this problem.

Try this. Was very surprised at the lack of support from Blackmagic. They basically said the problem didn't exist.

After running the below commands, all of our new Windows 11 machines that could not log into the Cloud Store are now able to log in and map the drives.

A quick rundown:

- Run Powershell as Admin
- Run this command first: Set-SmbClientConfiguration -RequireSecuritySignature $false
- Run this command second: Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters" RequireSecureNegotiate -Value 0 -Force
