Global Title Controls?

PostSat Oct 19, 2024 11:20 pm

Is there a way to configure and assert global control over titles such that one could change the font and font size of all titles after they have been placed in a timeline?

Title + titles, are essentially fusion compositions saved as macros to be used on the end page and there are various ways how would could try to copy it from one compositions (title) to the next, in case you are already stuck with it, but if you are doing it from scratch, you have at least two options.

Referenced Fusion Compositions

"DaVinci Resolve 19 introduces a powerful new way of applying Fusion composites to your clips called “Referenced Composition” This method allows you to reuse your work across multiple clips or even timelines. You create a referenced composition on the Edit page by selecting a single clip, or a stack of clips, and then select “Create Referenced Composition” from the contextual menu. This generates a Fusion Referenced Composition in the Media Pool You can enter the Fusion page to start compositing or double click the Referenced Composition in the Media Pool to open it.

Referenced comps can be linked to other clips in any timeline by selecting the referenced comp, then right-clicking the target clip and selecting “Link to Referenced Composition” Any changes you make are applied across all connected clips because they are all “referred” or “linked” to the same composition

Referenced compositions are an effective and secure way to keep your work backed up and organized, as they live in the Media Pool and will persist even if the original referenced clip is deleted from the Timeline"

Can text in the various instances of a Reference Composition be unique or is it imported from the reference? Seems like the later.

One reference to rule them all.... unless you have more than one reference in the media pool which you can use to link some clips to if you wanted for example 6 of the clips to be one style and another 6 clips another style. You would use two reference compositions and link them accordingly. You can link and unlink clips to a reference, so you can have several styles saved as reference composition and than choose which clips you link to which reference. You just need to have a reference in the media pool selected and clip you want to link selected and than you choose what you want to do from the right click menu.

Use Case: A client wants a new font on all ## titles in a composition.

Can the approach you are suggesting facilitate changing the font in exactly one place and that change would then propagate amongst all ## instances?
