Pyxis Monitor 1/4" mounting pins, I'm so confused

PostTue Feb 25, 2025 5:37 pm

OK, I just received my Pyxis monitor.

Every other monitor I have uses 3/8 arri spacing for the ARRI locating pins with the 1/4' screw. This monitor doesn't. Been searching Amazon for any type of quick-release or nato rail that has the correct spacing but everything seems to be 3/8 arri locating pin spacing with 1/4" female.

Anyone find a reasonably priced quick release that will work with locating pins for the Pyxis Monitor?

Thanks,
Cheers,
Corey

You are going to need a low profile NATO rail and a couple of short M4 screws.

The heads on the m4 screws aren't too small for the nato rail?

How short are the screws? I ordered an assortment from Amazon.

OK, in case anyone is interested...

I used the 70mm Smallrig low profile NATO rail

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081Q6VVQX

I also used the m4x6mm screws from this kit

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DCVVSGW2

I also used the single 1/4 screw from the NATO rail as extra security so that the m4 screws are more about anti-rotation than being the sole monitor attachment.

I tried the nato rail solution with some washers underneath, but the monitor is so light that a simple smallrig monitor mount w/ 1/4 screw with some rubberized material holds the monitor in place just fine. I'm sure we'll see an adapter (similar to the SmallHD stuff) come out at some point.

I tried washers with the m4 screws but it made them too high for the nato rail. So I used the M4x6mm primarily as rotation locking and the 1/4 from the nato rail to secure the monitor/nato attachment.
