Looking for inexpensive stereo mic with XLR for BMPCC 6K G2

PostFri Mar 07, 2025 1:34 am

I have a very cheap Azden mic from 2012 that doesn't sound terrible, but it's 3.5mm and seems to have a lot of noise with the BMPCC 6K G2, so I'd like to find something maybe not so cheap (this was probably 30 bucks in 2012), but not expensive either. Anything below $200 would be ideal.

The goal is to have decent ambient sound if I shoot video with my dogs and things like that. The internal mic would do fine but the camera fan can be heard all the time unless the ambient is rather loud, which in my case it's not.

Everything I've seen so far on B&H or Amazon is either too expensive or super cheap quality. For example, if I could find a pricier and better quality version of this, it would be ideal: https://a.co/d/hfThctj

And I know this is probably too much to ask, but if it came with the type of XLR the camera has it would be great, I think it's called mini XLR?

With mics, you get what you pay for. I use Rode mics. For camera they have some nice light 'video' mics, both mono and stereo and also have vibration isolation. If you think these are too expensive then just stay with the built-in camera mic as it will likely be better than any cheep mic. Resolve has some nice sound clean-up that can remove camera noise and separate voices.

I use this on the P4K. Massive improvement over the internal mics.
