Desktop Video Setup App - No Device Detected Message

PostWed Apr 02, 2025 8:12 pm

I recently helped setup a live stream at my local church. We are using a Mac Mini and we are also using a BlackMagic DeckLink Duo 2 in order to get the video feeds out of the Mac Mini to our Atem Mini Extreme. I have noticed that a lot of the time when we start up the Mac Mini or when we wake it up from being a sleep that we get the No Device Detected message in the Desktop Video Setup App on the Mac. Currently in order to fix this I am cycling power to the external box that contains the DeckLink Duo 2 card. I wanted to see if anyone could help with how to prevent this or if there is a better way that we need to be shutting down or starting up the system to prevent this. I would rather not have where our volunteers have to cycle power to the DeckLink Duo 2 device every Sunday on start up if possible. After I cycle power to the box that contains the DeckLink Duo 2 the App detects the device and everything works fine.

Not sure if this is related, but the newer Mac OS has some security features that block certain software/hardware components. I had this issue with the UltraStudio HD. Try this:

- Go into System Settings under "Login Items & Extensions"

- Scroll down into the Extensions

- Click the i icon for the Camera Extensions and Driver Extensions. You will most likely have to turn on both of those items.

I did this and the UltraStudio HD Mini showed up in my Desktop Video Setup window.

Hope this helps!

Todd
