Imported project is done -- but can't render. Help/ideas?

PostFri Apr 04, 2025 5:18 pm

Resolve Studio 19.1.4 Build 11 running on Windows 11. Surface Studio desktop PC. Diagnostic log attached.

SCENARIO / BACKGROUND
I had half-finished a project in VEGAS PRO a few years ago.. exported it as XML and imported to Resolve. Generally the import went fine (though it's inconvenient that all the audio is split into separate L/R tracks and not linked to the video)...

I finished editing the project in Resolve and am now trying to export.

PROBLEM
Whenever I render/export, I get an error from Resolve... either "Full resolution not found" or (when I try to export with the option to "use proxy media") "Full resolution or proxy not found" for a clip early in the timeline.

However -- that clip plays perfectly fine in the preview .. when I go to the source file it's clearly present and double-clicking plays fine in a media player. (the file is on internal SSD, not on a network or external drive.) I was able to render it once with proxy media a day or so ago.. but now that's also not working.

Media pool shows that the file has a 1920x1080 proxy (so OK quality level for rendering.. that's my target resolution) ... original source is AVCHD High L4.0.

Is there generally an understood reason why this would happen and is there anyting I can do to fix/workaround? (I'll keep trying to make it use proxy media.. but certainly would rather it rendered from native...)

Thx

I've continued to try to solve this .. and really feel stuck.

Tried..
- different types of exports (same result)
- made a copy of all the files and tried to export with those as source (same result)
- exported the project to DRP and tried doing it on another PC (same result)

Ideas?

Set Resolve to Disable All Proxies, and then set Cache to None.

Does that clips still show up in the timeline?

Thanks. Just tried that... still got the same error. "Full resolution media not found for <track> at <time>" ... and yet the track is there, it plays fine in the preview, it plays fine if I double-click the file in the Windows shell and look at it VLC.

I also tried just DELETE THAT CLIP in my project ... but a few clips later the same error happens. I wouldn't think it's the media files, but perhaps it is? Is there a way to 'cleanup' or test source media files? (I wouldn't think Resolve would give a "media not found" error.. the files are certainly there.

Note: this set of attempts is on Resolve Studio 20 Beta.

OK.

What track is being listed for the error? (I've just never seen this error message, either myself or reported here in the forums, so I'm really fishing here.)

Here's a screenshot of the error. It doesn't mention a track -- this clip (and the other failure i got when I deleted this clip from timeline) is on Video track 1.

I thought of one other thing that maybe potentially is related?

these clips were stored in Microsoft OneDrive and synced down from the cloud to the client. OneDrive sync replicates files from the cloud to local storage... these are all stored locally at file path

C:\Users\joe_b\OneDrive\_Video Editing - IN PROGRESS - Synced files\_1 - VFs moving to Davinci\2015-04, CUBA video #WORKING#\

I know OneDrive quite well (having worked at Microsoft) ... and I can't think of a reason why this would affect Resolve -- the files just get copied to that location and that's the file path that Resolve understands and where the previously-imported-project (from VEGAS pro) got opened.

thanks again for help/ideas/thinking! I really appreciate it!

OK.

With Resolve closed, move ALL the files out of One Drive and into a normal folder. Then open the project and Relink all the media.

Did you try relinking the media? Or using one of the reconform commands on it?
