Problem of colors with video and limited

PostTue Mar 11, 2025 5:08 pm

Hello, I have a problem that I do not understand.

I am on mac mini pro 4, and I calibrate on an Eizo Cs2400 screen.

The monitor is connected to the mac by an ultrastudio Monitor 3G

The problem I have is that when the Davinci project is in video and the monitor is in limited, the image is disgusting. Same, when both are in full.

However, when I put the project in Video and the monitor in Full, there the image is correct.

I work in REC 709.

Does anyone know where the problem could come from?

They should match. Maybe card is doing something funny, so if it you know it's ok then leave it misaligned.
Are you forcing monitor manually to given range?

Leaving it misaligned isn't very reassuring for calibration...
And yes, I'm forcing the monitor with the range.

And it's not actually due to the connection with DaVinci.

When I view an image on the monitor without going through DaVinci, it looks strange when it's in limited mode, and becomes consistent again when it's in full mode.
Is it possible that the problem is because I calibrated the screen while it was set to full?

But what I don't understand is that if it were just a monitor problem, then full/full should work...

It may be related to fact that you calibrated it with full mode.
There was something with Eizo having calibration LUT before or after some point in processing chain which wasn't good. Maybe it's related to it.
Good question- full, full should still work. Maybe you have issue in 2 places- at BM end and later in Eizo :)
You can ask Eizo support.
It would be good to verify somehow that BM card sends proper limited/full signal by itself.
You can also use built in preset to see if there is any difference in behaviour.

What codec is the source footage?
I have had this issue with AVC intra files that have an incorrect color profile.

Are you calibrating the monitor with Eizo's own Color Navigator software and a probe?
