Some Keyframes Don't Appear in New Keyframes Editor

PostTue Apr 08, 2025 6:06 pm

For example, if I add keyframes to any parameter in the Title tab of a MultiText layer, they don't appear in the new Keyframes editor. Only keyframes added in the Settings tab. Is this expected? (I've tried changing the settings in the three-dot Parameters menu, and this doesn't help)

While I'm in love with the new Keyframes editor, not having access to some of my keyframes just because they're in a different panel is very odd. I would expect that if something can be keyframed, it can appear in the editor. As it currently stands, I can't add any easing or adjust keyframe timing at all for these specific parameters. I'm really hoping these parameters will eventually be included in the Keyframe editor...

Have you looked in the 3dot menu behind Parameters ?

Yes, and this doesn't have any effect. I'm going to edit my post to answer that. I've tried every combination of settings in Parameters, and none of them allow me to see the keyframed parameters I'm referring to. If you try keyframing parameters in the Title tab of a MultiText layer, do they show up for you?

I also don't see any keyframes for the multitext.
Some effects are treated like Fusion Compositions / Fusion Macros -
I don't see any keyframes for any of them. Maybe the systems are not compatible (yet).
But you can always adjust things in Fusion.

That's probably the case... The reason I (and many in the community) are excited about the new Keyframe editor is specifically the ability to avoid Fusion for simple keyframes. I've tried to adopt Fusion for years, but it's just a no-go for me. I really dislike how Fusion operates, and try my best to achieve what I need in the Edit and Color pages.

To any Blackmagic admins: can we expect to eventually have Keyframe editor functionality with all parameters that can be keyframed?

MultiText is a Fusion effect. You'll need to go into Fusion to adjust those keyframes.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I understand that. My main question still stands for the BM team; Can we expect to see all keyframe-able parameters eventually be compatible with the new Keyframe Editor? Or will some always be locked behind the Fusion tab?

I would very much like to know the answer to this as well. Just about all of the effects I use are from Fusion and if these new editors will never work with Fusion effects then the editors are going to be nearly useless to me.

I'm not really interested in doing any more testing, bug finding or feature requests for these editors until they either work for Fusion effects or we get confirmation that they will work in the future. I don't expect an exact time frame or anything, just a simple "Yes, we're working on it." will suffice for me.
