Can't get aaf exports to work in Luna

PostFri Apr 04, 2025 11:55 pm

I can't get an aaf export out of Resolve that works with UAD's Luna. Premiere Pro can export one that works but Resolve keeps producing errors. Either it can't create a project from the aaf at all or it opens a new project with no media in it.

Has anyone here had any luck? I've tried everything that's been popping up in different search results.

Davinci Resolve Studio 19.1.4
LUNA free version 1.8.3.3924

i7-12700k
32GB ram
RTX 3060 Ti | Studio Driver | 566.36 (Using this older version because the newer drivers cause black screen issues and unusable display ports)
Windows 11 | 24h2 | 26100.3476

Which export preset was used to deliver to AAF? Did you export an embedded or linked AAF?

Is the Luna install on the same volume as Resolve?
Is the folder structure identical between source and destination?
Mac Pro 7,1 Rack • Resolve Studio 20.0 • macOS 15.5 (24F74)
Merging Hapi • Anubis • Premium VAD (3.5.0) ↔︎ Lawo VSC (1.0.0)

Both programs are installed on my C drive.

When trying to get this to work I'm using a simple test project, just one timeline with a single clip (Quicktime, DNxHR HQ, 30fps, stereo, 24 bit, 48k, PCM) cut into three small sections.

The clip is on a different drive, E:\myedit

The export is on the same drive, E:\luna1

These are the different options I've tried:
    - Pro Tools default
    - Pro Tools, uncheck "Use unique filenames"
    - Pro Tools, uncheck "Export Video"
    - Pro Tools, uncheck "Export video", uncheck "Use unique filenames"
    - Pro Tools, same as the previous four but with "Embedded in AAF"
    - Pro Tools, QuickTime - DNxHD - 1080p 36 8-bit, Embedded in AAF
    - AVID AAF default
    - AVID AAF, uncheck "Use unique filenames"
    - AVID AAF, uncheck "Export Video"
    - AVID AAF, uncheck "Export Video", uncheck "Use unique filenames"
In the conform options I have "Assist using reel names from the: Embedding in source clip file".

My timeline timecode starts at 0.
