Reposition an object

PostThu Apr 10, 2025 7:55 pm

Sorry if this is absolutely simple but my brain is vapor locked about how to do it.

In the attached screengrab, one of the cars is out of line (the teal SUV in the 2nd row). I want to pull the SUV into line with the other 2 cars as it drives down the road.

How might I do that in DaVinci?

Is the camera static or moves/rotates?

If it is static the first thing to try is to time-offset the clip so that this car aligns with others, mask it out (with some surround) and merge on top of original. You probably need to roto out the adjascent car’s screen right side to use as a holdout too, as it has to mask out your retimed car and its shadow.

If cam moves you can approach it similarly, but need to additionally stabilize first, before retiming, and reapply motion later.
