18.6.6 became very choppy, 19.1.4 crashes during startup

PostMon Apr 14, 2025 6:42 pm

Trying to switch from Adobe Premiere Pro as it is a hobby only and not feeling like doing enough video editing to reason the cost, but probably I'm running out of patience.

I've started ~4 months ago, after receiving my new Lenovo P14s Gen5, which supposed to be good at this.

Started with version 19.1.2, it was crashing constantly.
Then tried 19.1.3, did not help.

Decided to use old and reliable - 18.6.6 - it had own glitches, but managed to finish several projects and seems like yesterday came in new nvidia driver updates, after which is not possible to do any editing due the huge lag (I've checked in resource monitoring - seems like GPU is barely used).

Tried to play with various settings, nothing helped, did not wish to roll back nvidia drivers, decided to try 19.1.4 instead. Uninstalled 18.6.6 (seems that there were at least 3 pieces that I had to uninstall separately) and 19.1.4 does not start. Shows splash screen and soon after process just disappears, not even sure how to capture logs in such case.

Not even sure what to do now - go back to 18.6.6? Try to find a way to collect some debug info for 19.1.4? Or just go back to Adobe Priemiere, as nerves are more expensive.

If you're running into crashes on Windows, go to the Resolve Help menu and select "Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop." Also, create a MSinfo32 info file by selecting Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information, then choosing Save. Now, place both files on a download site like Dropbox, post the link here in a forum message and see BMD Support has to say.

As I've mentioned, Resolve does not start after uninstalling 18.6.6 and installing 19.1.4.
