Cannot create new project or open Resolve - crashfest

Hello.
I was using Resolve this evening, it was behaving very badly, freezing during renders... but eventually got the tiny job done.
I then closed it and then reopened to create a new test project, and I have tried that a few times, rebooted, tried again, and it looks like it's doing something for a few seconds then POOF! gone. No crash popup or anything.
I then tried to reinstall it, but the latest available download from the support site is apparently OLDER than the version I already have installed! So I cannot do that without uninstalling first... VERY WEIRDLY I can open the project I had been working on, but NOT create a new project!!!??

EDIT: I also found that I COULD create a new project if I started the existing project and then created a new one, but NOT from the opening splash screen... seems to be a bug there!

Is there a way to clean this up a bit without deleting the mystery locations where resolve hides project files? I've already had this happen BTW from 19 to 20 upgrade.

On Windows, you can't install an older, or the same, version without uninstalling first, using the Windows "Apps & Features" Control Panel.

You can only install a newer version without uninstalling first.

A Resolve diagnostics log could be helpful. Make that from the Resolve Help menu.

Two things.
1/ the "newer version" is the same DaVinci_Resolve_Studio_20.0b1_Windows I installed a week ago, so it should be the exact same, not newer or older.

2/ the main point of my post is that I am reporting a bug (not about re-installing!) The bug causes crashes when trying to create a new project from the opening splash screen.

there is definitely a bug with creating a new project via the Untitled Project icon, and clicking on that, then naming a new project. Using the New Project button at the bottom right of the splash screen works fine, no crashes. This is fully repeatable.

Here's a rough video showing using the Untitled Project icon, and then just using the Create panel. As you can see there is no crashing, so I think your problem lies elsewhere.

Weirdly, I just tried now and there was no problem, new project created fine...I wonder if the Beta updates in the background or something, or was the downloaded version build 23? I had tried a dozen or more times over a period of days, and it crashed every time, up till now. Anyhoo... works, and thanks Charles for your input and support!
