How does the Sound Library work for searching and managing

PostWed Apr 16, 2025 12:43 pm

hey guys,
In the sound library, if I just open it, it doesn’t show anything by default, even though I added a folder. I always have to type *** in the search bar to get my sounds to show up. Not sure why this is needed. Is there a way to make it show everything by default or use a more natural search behavior?

Also another thing, let’s say I add a folder to the sound library. If later I want to remove that specific folder from the database, I can’t find any way to do that. The only workaround I found is going to the projects library database folder and deleting the SoundLib.db file for music, but that wipes out the entire sound library, not just one folder. Is there really no way to just remove one location without resetting the whole thing?

Currently a search term or "***" is required to return results and display the first 1000 files.

The only method currently available to remove items from the database is to drop the database, create a new database, and rescan the target path.

Thank you for letting me know this.

Is the Fairlight Sound Library only available for the Studio version? I tried the installer, and added the library from the installed location. It said it loaded over 500 tracks, but they don't show up when I go to the Fairlight module.

Did you manually add the Fairlight Sound Library 1.0 media to a database or was the Fairlight Sound Library 1.0 installer run? Reads as if both actions were performed.

If media was manually added to the currently selected database, then a Fairlight Sound Library will not be available. Enter a search term with the appropriate database selected (alternatively enter *** to list all files).

I use this:

Nothing to install and search is easy.
Davinci Resolve 20
Windows 10 (until they pry it out of my cold dead fingers).
