Vertical Lines in URSA Cine 12K Footage

PostWed Apr 23, 2025 2:21 am

I'm seeing vertical lines in footage from my new URSA Cine 12K. They're visible straight out of camera—before any grading. Each line has a slight brightness shift on one side, and they show up most clearly in flat areas like the sky.

The attached image has contrast boosted only to make the lines easier to see—they were already present in the original footage.

I've already tried performing a sensor calibration with the body cap on, but it didn't resolve the issue.

What could be causing this?

Thanks,
Nathan

What power source did you use? And what other hardware/accessories were used with the camera? (Possibly electronic/RF interference…)

This was with a B-mount battery and the Ursa Cine EVF. However, I still have the issue with just the camera plugged in to the AC power supply

I think you should contact BlackMagic about this and tell them what settings you used during the shoot. Maybe the behavior depends on the resolution you used.
I can confirm this behavior on the 17K with a sample file shot at 11680x5360. The woman in red coat on the black beach. Yes it’s extreme but it shouldn’t be there.

Thanks, Bunk. How did you create the ‘day for night’ look?

Just a guess, but could it be an issue with the OLPF filter?

Nathan did Blackmagic ever get back to you about this? Did they exchange your camera? Would be interested to hear what came of it and also strange that its present both on the 12k and 17k sensor.
