Davinci Resolve doesn't start -

PostTue Apr 22, 2025 5:41 pm

Hi,

I was using Davinci Resolve Studio 19. But last week, it wouldn't start anymore. The load screen appears for like 2 seconds and then it disappears.

I upgraded to Davinci Resolve Studio 20, thinking that it would fix the problem, but I got the same result. The load screen shows up for 2 seconds and then it dissapears. Davinci Resolve doesn't start.

Please, let me know if you need more information from me, like logs or files, to fix the problem.
I sent an email last week to the support center but I didn't get any answer.

Thank you
David

I had the same problem and Topaz Video AI was causing the problem. Are you using that App? Removing it solves the problem. Topaz is working on a solution.

Then please provide the following:

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows Desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open the Windows System Information app and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here. Make sure the links don't require access credentials.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

Thank you all.

Yes, I have the Topaz software too. But I was using both applications in the same computer with no problem. Anyway, I can uninstall Topaz to try your solution. I don't like the idea, but to find out the source of the problem it could be useful.

On the other hand, I will generate the logs and post a link to download them here.

Thanks
David

Hi again,

I was digging on the internet about what AllMediaLab said about Topaz and I found the reason of the problem. The Topaz plugins for Davinci Resolve make Davinci to crush.

I went to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX folder and renamed the Plugins folder to Plugins.tmp With this change, Davinci Resolve doesn't try to load the Topaz plugins and it finally can start without errors.

Thanks for all the support and I guess that now is in the hands of Topaz to fix this issue.
