Hi Dwaine,

I did that sitting at the airport waiting for my flight.

Good news! Your solution worked, and I could finish some of my work.

However, I am puzzled! There was nothing related to DaVinci Resolve in the OFX folder. The two entries there belong to Topaz Video AI. And Topaz was never running when the issue occurred. I did not have time to test Topa Video AI without those plugins.

Incidentally, this issue does not occur on my desktop. The desktop runs Windows 10, whereas the notebook runs Windows 11. Would that explain it?

Thanks Dwaine.

Resolve looks at the OFX folder for OFX plugins to load.

Hello, last Friday, DaVinci Resolve crashed for me. I've tried several times to restart the program. The loading bar just spins for a second and then disappears again. I read in the forums that there could be several causes for this and have gone through all of them. But nothing helped restart DaVinci. Perhaps you can help me with this?

Thanks for your help.

The NFO is not enough in this case. Need a complete Resolve diagnostic log.

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows Desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Hello,

DaVinci Resolve won't start on my system. I have installed the latest drivers and also performed a clean installation. I’ve reinstalled the software several times and even tried different versions, but unfortunately without success.

This is the first time I’ve installed Resolve, and it has never launched successfully.

I’ve attached my NFO file, the log files, and a Windows crash report.

Thank you for your support!

Hello Dwaine, I also contacted support in the UK, but everything they recommended didn't get the program to start. 1. Uninstall everything from Topaz and install DaVinci Resolve Studio version 19.1.4. 2. Remove all AMD GPU drivers and DaVinci and reinstall only DaVinci.
That didn't help. Please, maybe you can find the error in the log files to get the program running again.

Your file download site is not very friendly. I waited a couple of minutes for it to start downloading the first file, and since nothing was happening, did a browser refresh. It then informed me that I'd have to wait 2 hours for the next download attempt.

Your config.dat and .config.data files are bad. As well as their backup files. Something has filled all 4 files with NUL characters. Not sure how all 4 files could be in that state, but there you go.

Open File Explorer Options, and on the View tab, enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Also unselect "Hide extensions for known file types".

Then in File Explorer, navigate to this folder:

C:\Users\Passw\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Preferences

Delete the config.dat and .config.data files. As well as the config.dat.bak and .config.data.bak files.

Now Resolve should start.

It will recreate the config files with the default starting info. If you had any Preferences modifications made, be sure to reapply those after starting.

If Resolve still doesn't start, send a new Resolve log file.
