Replaced original BM Webpresenter with HD - no audio Input

PostFri Apr 25, 2025 7:14 am

Hi there,

We had an original Black Magic Webpresenter which recently died. Power board issue.
We decided to replace with the newer WebPresenter HD - however on purchasing realized it doesn't have a seperate XLR input for audio like the original WebPresenter did. It only has a SDI in for both video and audio.

Setup at our church has the video coming from a fixed camera into SDI - then separate audio coming from our mixer via XLR input.

Just curious whats the standard recommended solution when upgrading to the newer model to combine the video audio source into the single SDI input ?

Does the camera have the ability to receive audio via the XLR connection, and is the camera easily accessible? That would be the cheapest option.

Summized as much with the requirement for the mini converter. Seems quite poor that after upgrading to the new model you are then required to dish out an additional $350 for functionality that was included as standard in the old model.

The camera was also roof mounted and a good 20m+ run from the audio equipment. We ended up returning the Web Presenter Pro. Switched to a Atem mini due to its multiple inputs and converted the SDI to HDMi and XLR to the 3.5mm mic input.

Works fine for our purposes and came in at around half the price of the web presenter + Mini converter.
