I wanted to change it to a 4x4 matrix so it works diagonally, too like real bingo with 5x5. Just a sec.

Wow, that about sums up BMD's weekly updates! You forgot to add the part about blaming someone else for the delay.

I see Christine Peterson has locked the other thread.
Sad piece of censorship from BMD. A very underhanded and deceitful way of doing business.

I remember when a black BMD t-shirt with the company logo was worn with pride by their reps at trade shows. Now I'm afraid that t-shirt is a mark of shame and any respectable folks would'nt be seen dead wearing it

What sort of reception will BMD get in future shows such as NAB? Not very well I should imagine.

IDK, I've seen BMD do two good things today. They've set two renegade resellers back on the str8 and narrow. Of course, they've done a bad thing...censoring a thread is always bad. But I'm willing to reserve judgement until after this week's update. ;)

I personally agree with that thread being locked. If people can't discuss that sort of thing in a civil manner, it's fair enough to lock it.

I decided to contact CVP (UK), the reseller I pre-ordered my BMCC from. Seems like they are pretty organised with the pre-order list. Let's just all try to stay calm, surely something will happen within the next few weeks.

Good Morning Christian,

I hope you're well and thanks again for your valued order.

You are currently number 136 in our pre-order queue and please be assured we've had over 300+ on order with Blackmagic since middle of April this year to cover the demand.
We have recently been informed that the Blackmagic camera should start shipping in the next couple of weeks, however until we can establish a consistent incoming supply it is nearly impossible to provide a lead time for any pre-orders beyond the first handful in the queue. Having said this, I would predict that we would be likely to be able to complete your order before the New Year.

If you have any further queries, or if we can help with anything else in the meantime - please let us know and we'll do our best to help.

Many thanks & best regards

It's not like other people didn't start giving it back, but honestly where did you expect the conversation to go from there? As an outsider reading that, no one was coming off good in the end there. It just looks bad for everyone involved when people start getting heated like that. Just my opinion anyway.

That 'perfection' can continue on other forums though. ;) BMD are just moderating their forum how they see fit. Seems fair to me.

I don't think BMD should just 'let it be', otherwise they would have left the camera market as it was too with that attitude. :D

If the next update says, "In the next few weeks," I think some volcanos are going to erupt.

It's incredibly frustrating as the next "seriously good image" camera is over $10,000 more.

I'm really curious about the new Sony F whatever. Though, it could also be hype...

Stuck between a rock and hard place.

I ordered late April with CVP, when I spoke to the sales rep they told me that they had 100 on pre order and would soon pre-order another 100. So one of us has been given incorrect info there.

I agree but it had to be done. Some great detective work got the truth out there. I honestly think the reseller came off worse. Am I disapointed in some of my actions? Yes. Was it needed. Yes.

They also told me something along the lines of 100 on pre-order and another 100 to be ordered.

Also looking forward to Grant's update today.

As for the thread being locked, I'm not too bothered. I think Christine did the right thing.

If he doesn´t give a positive update by tuesday when Sony announces their new camera, all people who have a substantial consumer surplus (like people who were originally aiming for an F3 or Scarlet) will switch and cancel their BMCC order (including me).

Not sure I see the use in trying to pester Blackmagic into getting the cameras out sooner. It's gonna take as long as it's gonna take. I really don't get how some people seem to be unable to comprehend the fact that Blackmagic want to ship their camera as much, if not more, as we want them to start using them.

The absolute worst thing that could happen now would be if corners started getting cut in terms of quality evaluation in order to get them out the door as soon as possible. Which obviously isn't going to happen with a company as established as Blackmagic so I don't see the use in getting so upset. They're not trying to piss us off, they're trying to deliver the camera they said they would and seem very close to doing so.

Don't get me wrong, I was as frustrated as anyone at the ambivalence in terms of communication we were receiving initially but in fairness that's been corrected now and we're getting updates on a semi-regular basis.

The sensor issue was unfortunate at is it was out of their hands. But that's one of the downsides you risk when you deal with a (comparatively speaking) small manufacturing company who don't make all components in house. Tough s---. They're making a camera for the end of the market all the other big companies chose to ignore at a price they quite easily could have added another $1-3k to.

I don't want to come across as rude but some of you literally seem to be mental. There are tons of amazing things out in the world to experience away from an internet forum. The camera is coming. Chill. x

You have a point BUT,

Whether Apple, Sony or the frequent Microsoft - Anytime a Company is willing to announce, hype and ask the market to notice a product launch and then 6 months later you can deliver, I think is OK if people - some of whom might of placed a downpayment for their product - to complaint.

BM is a "Big Boy" that can take some PR harassment, in fact it probably happy if people find some of them hilarious (KID falling out of the playground thingy) and yet probably end up still waiting and still buy the camera.

You are 150% correct from the logical point of view (Spock filter), but your statement could be seen also as a over-reaction to the overreaction :D

I disagree with you on a few points. As an established reputable company, they made plans for a release and announced those plans as fact and failed to meet those plans. OK, that happens I get that, but their communication to the customers (who were planning on those delivery dates) is horrible and without all of the bitching from the community, I assure you we would not be getting the vague "check back in a couple weeks" updates that we are getting. Many of us lost money by planning on having this camera because we planned on it being close to when it was promised. I think it is our right as customers who paid for a product (and was promised a product) that we hold the company accountable for their poor business decisions. Now, all we may be able to do is gripe and complain at this point but, rightfully so, it is really hurting their reputation. As customers, we should keep as much heat on this company as we can until they deliver or at least communicate a delivery date of some sort. We understand delays but tell us if we can expect the cameras, next week, Christmas, April or next Christmas. I just don't think that is too much to ask and just saying they will get here when they get here is just not an acceptable answer to me.

I'm beginning to think the company is using the preorders to actually get an actual production line in place ....they never planned it out right ...almost like a kick starter project who puts out an idea then needs the funds to actually start it .....? Hmmmmm it's been a pretty long time to get the glass by now? The cameras were suppose lay ready all that needed was the glass and out they go....hmmmmmmmmm got me thinking...KICKSTARTER

If BM has $20mil in parts-inventory and the sensor issue has them (effectively) on HOLD - I wonder what (long lasting) effect this could have. I remain a fan of the company and hate to see them go down this way. This type of problems have taken many great companies down the tubes.

As I understand it, BMD won't see a dime of my money that was paid to my reseller back in July until they ship me my camera. No kickstarter possible there...only heavy motivation for BMD to ship me my camera...the one I paid for back in July...I have a receipt in a drawer around here somewhere.

It's early Saturday morning in Oz...I'm giving it until EOD Texas time before I'm officially disappointed. ;)

That's an IF. How many things have BMD told us that is a stretch of the truth? After everything they've mislead us with, I take any "info" about $20 mil in parts with a grain of sand. I'm sure someone will come in on here defending them, just like they were defended when their "successful" August product launch was "not weeks, but days" away and there was not a peep about any possible, incredibly massive shortage.

I've got it, BMCC will be delivered the same time with the new 27'' iMac... :D http://www.apple.com/imac/performance/, if you check this link and scroll down, you will see a new iMac along with a promise storage solution to the right and the BMCC on the left! It's hilarious you can find all sort of accessories for the camera and not the camera itself! I'm wondering which is the supplier of the camera's sensor...

This is too bad, that said "no news is good news" does not apply here :?

I perhaps need to start thinking my worst case scenario if this purchase does not materializes (plan B: GH3). There is nooooooo way I can stay with a 5DMIII now! I am pass that line. :(

imo 20 mio is uncomfortable to them not something that takes bm down.

no so big money to bm imo.

i hope all will be solved soon and we get our cameras.

verbal beating will not make more sensors etc.

OK, it's EOD in Texas. I'm officially disappointed. I've been getting that feeling way too much with BMD. I would sure appreciate something to feel good about...if you can spare the time...please.

No update like promised. Wow. I'm so shocked.

Does sarcasm read on the internet?
