Shooting a Documentary on the Pyxis

(Now, before you get all judge-y, this is 'just' the 6k. haha)

I'm the lead DP on a project that will begin mid-May and we decided to shoot on the Pyxis 6k.
I figure I would document the journey on here, if it makes any sense to keep record, haha.
We are doing a three camera interview setup and two cameras, possible three, for vérité shooting.

The project is about a group of improv individuals that all have Down syndrome. We're trying to showcase how we all have preconceived ideas about people based on what their limitations are and not what they can do to benefit society. It's a field that I work in often, so it's right up my alley.

I'm used to shooting with Zooms for doc work, but having another Cam Op and a 1st AC, I think we're gonna go with Primes. The director wants a specific look and utilizing my SLR Magic APO Microprimes on the Pyxis will yield wonderful results, as I have used this combo before. But I'm up for zoom lens suggestions that would match a Cooke-look prime.

It may sound amateur to most of you, but this is my first 'big' shoot. I've always had small crews for commercial work and even documentaries I've shot all over the world. This one is destined for distribution and streaming deals. I'm really excited to share more, as it unfolds.

Cinéma vérité (welcome to the 60s) is going to consume a lot of essentially unscripted footage to get compelling footage in the final deliverable. What ratio are you anticipating? What duration will your deliverable have?

Congratulations on this project! Eager to hear how it progresses.

If you need to rent some additional SLR apo primes I’d consider it. I have the 25,32,50 and 85.
