BRAW File Corruption?

PostTue Apr 29, 2025 9:23 pm

I have a BRAW file that was filmed about 2 weeks ago on my URSA Mini Pro 12k (recorded to external ssd, sandisk problade). It was part of a 2 camera shoot for a short interview. I was able to import into DR, edit completely fine, produce my video with no issues. However, one of the questions I ask during the end of my interviews I go splice and i'm saving for a video down the road. I do this to save file size as I'll have 25-30 potential clips, so generally I use media management to trim the clip. I didn't do this right away, so I jump into DR today, and all of a sudden the exact same file I had zero issues with will not import whatsoever into DR. I've tried drag and drop, the actual import tool, everything I can, and nothing works. The file will not open in BRAW Player either. Every other BRAW file I try works as it should

Just to re-iterate, this is the EXACT file I used a few weeks ago, not a copy.

I'm using DR 20 beta (latest update as of today) and BRAW player 4.5. I've tried on a pc as well as a brand new M4 Max Macbook Pro, same problem on both. The original video was edited using the first beta of DR 20, which would be the only different between then and now.

Am I missing something? Could it just be the file somehow corrupted, which is a bit hard to believe?

Where's the file stored?

Does it show up in the Media Storage panel?

The file is stored on my internal laptop drive (4tb NVME drive). When I open DR, the file does not show up in the Media Storage panel. When I navigate to the folder the file is located while in the Media Storage, the file does not display at all, as if its not there. When I try and use the import media function in DR, I select the file and hit import, nothing happens. No error is given, literally nothing and the file does not import. Same thing if I drag the media file from windows file explorer into DR

OK.

If it's not showing in Media Storage, then it won't work in Resolve. Something happened to the file recently. Maybe a disk corruption issue?

ran chkdsk, no issues found. I think its just a simple case of file corruption. Pretty crazy with memory these days that this one file worked great then about 2 weeks later crapped the bed! Even crazier is I saved it to a backup server NAS storage before finishing my initial project. I even tried pulling that file down from the server and it does the same thing. Luckily its not critical and I have another camera angle of that same clip!

Thanks for the help folks!
