Crash when using Magic Mask v2 with RTX 5090

PostWed Apr 30, 2025 4:53 pm

System Configuration:

OS: Windows 11 Pro Version 24H2
CPU: Intel i9-13900K
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5090
RAM: 192GB
NVIDIA Driver: Studio Driver 576.02

Issue Description:
After upgrading from an RTX 4090 to an RTX 5090 and updating to DaVinci Resolve 20 Beta 2, I experienced a persistent crash when using the Magic Mask v2. The crash occurs consistently at ~30% progress during object tracking in a color grading project.

Potential Factors Identified:

GPU Hardware: The new RTX 5090 (Blackwell architecture) might have compatibility issues with DaVinci Resolve's AI acceleration features.

Driver Compatibility: NVIDIA Studio Driver 576.02 (released 2025-04-16) has known temperature sensor bugs that could affect GPU performance.

Beta Software Stability: Magic Mask v2 in Resolve 20 Beta 2 might have unresolved optimization issues for next-gen GPUs.

Request for Investigation:
Could the development team:

Verify Blackwell GPU support for AI tools in the current beta.
Check compatibility with NVIDIA 576.02 drivers
Guide crash log analysis (attached error logs show CUDA-related failures).
Additional Context:

No crashes occurred with previous RTX 4090 + Resolve 20b2 configurations

Tested with multiple projects - issue persists
GPU temperatures remain stable (45-70°C) during operation

Can report a similar issue! When selecting an object resolve freezes; Eventually you can navigate around the GUI but the video output is stuck requiring quitting the program and restarting.

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5090 E

I'm also using 13900K, same driver for RTX5090 everything is pretty similar.

I just using Win10 while working, it works perfectly without any bug or crash.
Intel i9 13900K, MSI Z790, 64GB, Asus RTX5090 Astral, 11.5TB M2 SSD, Win10
Nvidia Studio Driver (always latest), Quad-Monitor Coloring Setup, Mini Panel, Loupedeck CT

Thanks for reply, do you suggest install win 10 instead?

I updated to the latest 576.28 NVidia driver and Resolve 20 Beta 3. Not sure that's what fixed the issue, but after the upgrades... I ran a magic mask test and it looked like it was hanging.... But I decided to wait. Walked away and got some water, came back, and it worked! Opened a different project, tested again, and it worked. Rebooted, ran a test and it worked! Looks like it may be working now.

I dont know sir, im not trying to say " you are wrong, it works " i applied your message for documentary reasons, according to other guys reply it very seems driver issue.

Win11 may cause that driver's issue to. Becoz yours and mine system very similar. Better try it newer game ready driver. Also if you are willing to change OS to win10, that is your chance :D
