Resolve 20 Beta Render Times Skyrocket, Can't Render!

PostFri May 09, 2025 2:31 pm

Hi All,

After installing the 20 Public Beta and using it for weeks, suddenly my render times became absolutely exorbitant, to the point where a 1080p render of a 3-minute video was estimated to take not hours, but DAYS to render. My settings are as they should be—using GPU acceleration and CUDA cores, exclusively using my RTX 4050 (laptop version) and so on. Cache deleted, proxies regenerated, uninstalled and reinstalled Resolve 20, computer wiped and reformatted, reinstalled Resolve 20, tried again, nothing.

Specs:
———————
Asus Vivobook 16X (K3605VU) i9-13900H, 13th Gen

RTX 4050 (laptop version, 6 GB VRAM)

32 GB RAM 1 TB SSD 64-bit OS
———————

DVR:
———————
Resolve Studio 20 Public Beta
Version 20.0B, build 38
———————

This doesn’t appear to be a settings issue. Nothing has changed in terms of my settings or workflow. The video is color graded (no NR or other heavy stuff) and has transitions. That's it. Usually this kind of video would take me 10-20 minutes to render. When I do render, Task Manager shows that VRAM is being used almost in full, but the problem persists. I can play games at high settings with no problem.

Having taken the computer to a repair shop, they told me the computer is fine and that Resolve 20 is the problem. I did try to reinstall 19 and was indeed able to render normally. Now, the problem is I'm stuck with client work project files that were upgraded to version 20 several weeks ago. Could be three weeks, could be a month and a half—I don't remember.

Anyone else have this problem? How can I recover my progress without losing weeks of work? Any help will be tremendously, tremendously appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Best,

I have the exact same issue on Macbook Pro M3, DR Studio 20. Any fixes?

SOLVED IT.

I ran into the same issue (DR Studio 20 on MacBook Pro M3), where render times suddenly became extreme — days for a short project. In my case, it turned out to be related to the Audio Assistant.

I had applied the Audio Assistant, and later moved some of the processed audio clips onto a different track. After that, exports would hang indefinitely or show render times of multiple days.

What worked for me was:

I reverted to a timeline saved before using the Audio Assistant.

I ran the Assistant again, but this time didn’t move any clips between tracks.

The project exported normally after that.

The easiest way to test if this is your issue:
In the Deliver page, disable audio export (uncheck "Export Audio").
If the render completes normally, the issue is almost certainly audio-related.

Hope that helps someone else narrow it down.

Nice find, Patrik. :)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
