"Duplicate render paths" again

PostTue May 13, 2025 7:43 am

Damn!
Once again I'm getting the "Duplicate Render Paths Please enter unique sub-folder names for each
additional output in the render settings" error is back in the Deliver page and nothing I do is working .
I need to output a ProRes 422 HQ 4K copy of my file . Resolve will let me export it as an mp4 but not as a ProRes.

Last time I just changed the name of my file and it was fine but no such luck now. I've tried changing the names of the files, copying the project, changing the export locations, changing the cache render location , restarting the computer , creating an additional output, asking on the web and scouring the manual . Can't find anything .

Actually at the moment I just need to get a my client the highest output copy I can for 1:30 min video so she can pull stills from it . What's the highest quality file I can give her that won't be ginormous?

To what drive are you rendering the file? Is it an external drive or an internal drive?

Is it possible there's a formatting or a connection problem? Are you trying to render out the file to the same drive as the source file, or is it a different drive entirely?

I've been rendering to an external drive, but I tried switching to an internal drive as well. Its a different file from the source drive and I can render any format except Quicktime.

I did find how to change where the render cache files go in the manual and tried changing it to no avail. But I can't find anything about this error code anywhere .

As mentioned this is the second time this has happened to me and the first one was easy to fix but not this time.

Thanks for following up with me here Marc . I see you also answered on the thread on "Post Production" where someone else posted the same problem a little while ago . When i responded on that a few minutes ago I got confused because i didn't see it on the Resolve Board . Just checked again and I realize it was the Post Production forum . Didn't mean to double post all over the place.

If its relevant my original source material was H264 and H265. Just tried exporting a to a bunch of other drives - no luck

MXF OP1A format using DNxHR codec is equivalent quality to ProRes (but with none of the issues that can sometimes accompany QuickTime files). Maybe try that?

That said, what exactly is the Location you're trying to render to, Leo?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Well I am absolutely mystified but it works Ok today .
Doesn't make a lot of sense other than the demons of the night.
Last night I tried everything including shutting down and restarting the computer twice. I tried exporting to 4 different drives including the internal. Went to bed at 3AM disgusted.
The one thing I didn't do though was turn the Raid on and off.

Went to a matinee of Sinners (recommended) today then returned to face the music . I had a number of new ideas to try . Open a new project and copy the clips from the old timeline into a new one etc.
However - first after turning on the computer I turned the Raid on and off just on what the hell hunch .
Well it works - outputs to ProRes fine .

2 variables - leaving the computer off for half a day / or turning the Raid on and off. I imagine the Raid reset something . Does that make any sense to you guys?
