Keyframes for Additional Effects Missing in Resolve 4 Beta?

PostTue May 20, 2025 8:03 am

Hi :) In the new beta version of DaVinci Resolve 4, I noticed something: previously, I could edit keyframes for any additional effects I applied (like plugins, third-party effects, etc.). Now, I see that keyframe adjustments are only available for the main parameters.

Additional effects don’t show up in the keyframes section or in the new curves panel.

How can I move or adjust keyframes for these extra effects now? Am I missing something, or is there a new workflow? Please let me know if there’s a way to get this feature back or any workaround.

Are they Fusion effects? Those will require you to work on the Fusion page.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Resolve Effects show up in the KF window below the Timeline but only Video parameters show in the Curves window on the left, no OFX, Resolve FX or Fusion FX.

There is a way to see OpenFX in the new curve editor, however it is a bit unintuitive. You need to first enable it in the keyframe view, then switch over to the curve editor view and also enable it there. It's weird that the available parameters in the curve editor view is limited by what is enabled in the other keyframe view.

Enable the parameters in this keyframe view first:
Keyframe View - Enable ofx.jpg
Keyframe View - Enable ofx.jpg (123.99 KiB) Viewed 289 times

Then make sure they are also enabled in the curve editor view:
Curve View - Enable ofx.jpg
Curve View - Enable ofx.jpg (83.99 KiB) Viewed 289 times

This is a mess. Can we get some developers that have actually used these kinds of features before?

It feels like these are being designed by the person responsible for the the auto-scroll in the Fusion curve and timeline editors that keeps turning itself on. When I am scrubbing through my animation I do not want my keyframes jumping off the left or right side of the screen when I let off the mouse button. It along with several other features need a permanent off button and features like the safe area guides and stacked timelines need a permanent on button in the preferences.

And while I'm ranting, everything in Fusion that has a color needs a transparency slider. Not the terrible alpha slider the background node has that only works with black, but a true transparency slider. I shouldn't have to add a second background set to black and 0 alpha, piped into a merge node, to use the blend as transparency. This adds a huge amount of clutter and wastes a ton of time.

I'll shut up now, before I really get going.

The keyframe editor needs a LOT of work before it becomes efficient.

I noticed (just an example) that with Resolve FX - Lens Reflections - that brightness can be keyframed with curves but the lens center position (curves) cannot be manipulated (keyframes - yes, curves - no). It seems that the lens centre is actually x,y but the keyframe editor sees this as a single value and maybe that's why it can't manipulate curves. I'm sure there are many other inconsistencies.
