Resolve 20 Color Page Verticle Content UI

PostThu Apr 24, 2025 9:29 pm

Hey hey,

I had a quick question on the UI format for Vertical Content on color page. I love the new feature on DR 20 on the "edit Page" where you can resize the effect window on the left so the Vertical video can take up more of the screen. I cannot seem to find a way to do it on the color page? Is there anyway to adjust the Node Section on the left to be smaller so the video can take up more space on the screen to see??

It looks like you have your preview on a lower zoom. Try putting it on "FIT" Usually around 51%

Yeah we need a way to switch this back to the left side, that's where the color wheels are. My eyes have to travel too far to make adjustments. Just not natural. Please

I disabled the vertical UI because of the color page. It didn't work for me. As said above, the preview on the right side is so unconfortable
I do a lot of detailed masking and I need extreme zoom in to refine my masks. In the vertical UI, I feel limited in space to work with masks.

Edit page, OK, awesome.

I agree the preview needs to be on the left side.

A button to toggle it’s height to be ‘normal’ (above thumbnails, etc) or full screen height, like you can with panels like the Edit page Inspector, would be a nice way to have the preview larger.

Agreed here. The right side is a really rough place to have it. Left side would be better.

Personally I'd love to see it in the center and have the color wheels to the left of the image and the curves/scopes to the right. If it was too tight on the right, possibly enabling a way to toggle between the scopes/keyframe panel and the node tree/effects panel all in the same box on top with the curves down at the bottom could be good too.

I agree with the previous guys - bring back the ability to switch the viewing window back to the center on the color page. With a large monitor diagonal, trying to see details you have to stretch your head to the right, which makes your neck ache!

WOW! Did you see what they did in beta 4?
Now you can enlarge the preview window in color page to the full height of your monitor!!!

I Have a 42" monitor and usually open Davinci in one half of the screen so my Davinci window is 8x9 instead of 16x9
So I have huge place for nodes and little to viewer and adjustments

I wish there was an option to switch view to the old style for vertical videos

Another problem in the Edit page's Vertical layout:
It's not possible to make left side smaller than the half of the Davinci window or hide it, whereas this works in the Horizontal layout.

The issue is especially noticeable when DaVinci is opened on a part of the screen, causing the viewer to become too small.

There is. Sorry, not in front of my machine. It's a preference I believe.

Add: From the new features guide:

Optimized UI Layouts for Vertical Editing
Optimized layouts for vertical timelines and projects are now supported in DaVinci Resolve 20.
When a vertical timeline or project is loaded, the UI automatically switches to a layout optimized
for vertical viewers on the Cut, Edit, and Color pages. Loading a normal landscape timeline or
project then automatically switches back to the original layout. No additional user intervention
is needed.
You can change this behavior in Preferences > User > UI Settings > Use optimized UI layouts
for vertical video
. Unchecking this box retains the normal horizontal layout, even for vertical
video timelines.
