I can't even install beta 4

PostThu May 22, 2025 5:11 pm

I've now tried at least a half-dozen times. I download the studio 20 beta 4, extract it, and (try to) run the extecutable. This has always worked, but today, every time, it gets to about 95% or so and aborts with, "Failed to open, extract all files before executing."

I'm trying to do this on my Windows 11 PC. I have downloaded a new copy of the zip file each time I've tried. It has worked with every release for years, but not today.

No problem extracting and installing on my system. I'm on Win 10 and use the built in Extract All tool. That error message suggests that unzipping is not working on your system.

This is strange. As part of my testing, I downloaded it to my Linux system and unzipped it with the Linux unzip command. That worked, and so I ran the exe from my PC. That failed with the same error I'd been getting. Next I ran that exe on my Windows laptop, and that worked.

After about three hours, I tried running that exe from my main Windows PC again, and this time it's working.

I think I'm going to blame my A/V software. Maybe it had something tied up while it was scanning the thing.

Anyway, it's working now.
