Powering Video Assist 7" 12G HDR via D-Tap?

PostWed May 28, 2025 7:33 pm

Hi all,

I am wondering if there will be a problem to power the Video Assist from a V-Mount battery using D-Tap to 2.5mm cable? The BM page states that VA is powered by 12V, while my battery states it provides 14.76V via its D-Tap ports.
I've tried it and it seems to work, so I am now worried for the long-term usage of this option.
Any thoughts?

I do exactly that with Video Assist 7" 3G and 5" 12G. When I use both at the same time, I power 5" one through a dummy D-Tap NP-F adapter, when only 5", I use the D-Tap to 2.5mm cable because it's less bulky than the dummy.
