DR 20 iPad: backwards compatibility eg. keyframe easing

Hello all.

I’ve created a simple test project in DaVinci Resolve 20 for iPad, and don’t seem to be able to access the keyframe type controls in audio tracks.

Up until the last v19.x release, when there were keyframes in an audio track, one could click on an icon in the audio track to drop down a graphic representation displaying keyframes, providing the ability to make each keyframe an in-point, and out-point, an ease-in point, or an ease-out point.

I see no means to do this in DaVinci Resolve 20 for iPad, and when I open (convert) previous projects that use this feature, it seems inaccessible in those, too.

Please someone, tell me the secret handshake.

Per Andy Mees in another thread, you may not want to update to DR 20 if you’re used to/depend on the previous inline clip keyframing method:

If you rely heavily on Resolve 19's inline clip keyframing method, or moreover, if you need to be able to see the keyframe timing of multiple clips simultaneously, you might find Resolve 20's redefined keyframe UI not to your liking in its present iteration. In that case you may choose to wait a while and see what the next point releases bring first.

If you are a professional user, especially one who is mid project and you, your team and your clients need to be ably to rely absolutely on the feature set and stability you are already enjoying with your current version of Resolve, you would be advised to wait until theres a clear break in your schedule before testing your usual workflows with the new version, thoroughly, before committing to it... you'd also be advised to back up just as throughly, including cloning your current system before embarking on the process, in case you need to revert.

Even though there is room for a Keyframes icon, and room to slide the Timeline frame upward so that there’s room for the Keyframe Tray under it as shown in the DaVinci_Resolve_20_New_Features_Guide.pdf linked above, BM seems not to have implemented it at all in DR 20 for iPad.

If so, this would be a downgrade in functionality with this new version.

I found about this too late. Updated to V20 on the ipad, because I was looking for the new psd file support, but that still does not work at all.

Also missing out any keyframe adjustments on the ipad really hurts. I tried the new keyframe editor via shortcut. It shows up as a window on the edit page, but stays blank. Too bad.

Good idea to try a shortcut, Andre.

Perhaps one needs to have a track selected before trying that?

That said, I never upgrade to a .0 version of any software. Shortly following the public release of any version upgrade is the patch release that fixes a bunch of stuff that was discovered once a wider audience than the beta testers started using it. By the time the final documentation is out it will probably have been patched a couple of times, so that's my target for upgrading.

Sure, a part of me wants to play with new toys as soon as I see them, but life was good before 20 released, so life will remain good even I'm not on the latest and greatest version.

In all honesty, unless this is fixed right quick it seems a big mis-step on BM’s part.

People rightly expect to have all the features of their existing projects to be maintained, and that by “upgrading” they may gain additional features, but not lose features they depend on.

Easing at keyframes is part of what distinguishes a beautifully conceived and executed piece of film making.

It’s not a frill.

We —DaVinci Resolve for iPad users— need it back.
