Can you carry over to an updated computer?

PostThu May 29, 2025 7:50 pm

Hey. I've been using the free version of Davinci Resolve for a few years now and just bought the studio version for the first time. Watching how it works tho, I believe I'm going to have to update my computer. Can I transfer it over to another computer or am I going to have to pay almost $500 Canadian again? If anyone knows that would be great. Thanks!

One resolve key can be used on two machines at the same time.

If you try to install on a third, when the install phones home it will invalidate the key on the first machine.

I have re-installed windows and installed on 3 different machines, zero problems.

Do of course keep track of that magic code you bought. If you lose that you will be spending the $500 again.

Updates are smart enough to not ask you to re-enter they key. So when you decide to move to v20, it will be seamless.

If v21 is offered for free to existing users or not is still unknown.
